Oil Crisis
 |
The pipelines of Sudan |
In 1978, oil had been discovered in Bentiu, South Sudan. Then, in the border of the South in a town called Abyei, more oil had been discovered. The oil had been shipped to many places of the world from a pipe that runs from South to the North. Most of the oil is shipped of to China, one of the biggest costumers, from having 70% of the oil from Sudan. The North shipped off the oil, so they decided that they get all the money. South Sudan didn't agree with this, they felt they should get some of the money too so they rebelled. The south won, gaining 49% of the money and North receiving 51% of the money. And sometimes, the south doesn't even get the 49%. Where the border lies is being discussed because, if the border is more on the south, they should get most of the money. But if, the border lies more on the North, they would get most of the money. This problem currently going on.
